  • Hi Toby. How did the interview go? It would be good to see it uploaded. Re the 'hamster wheel' run course.... don't worry too much about that. The Lichfield course was 1.1 miles long. Most of the athletes that have completed the Double and Triple on this course have said that they would not want the course to be any longer. When things start to break down, each lap can take between 10 to 20 minutes. This is too long for me to wait in the race centre. I have to walk the course throughout the day to check on the welfare of the athletes. Also, the support crews feel more involved. The athletes have said that as soon as they leave the race centre, they have sometimes counted the steps until their return and seen each end of lap as a 'heaven'!! During a Deca, you will need continuous attention from the staff and your support crew. This is why the laps are this short.

We have made both the run and bike course as beautiful as we can to ease the boredom! Think on the bright side the Mexican Deca course is 2km long. They bike around it in one direction, and run around it in the other!!

I wish you the very best of luck and look forward to meeting up with you next week.

  • The interview went okay but I'm used to training others for public speaking not being in front of the camera myself.

I went in with a number of key points that I wanted to get across and they came out, so I was pleased about that. The charity came across well, which was my primary aim.

It's a pity more sponsors haven't come forward they missed a good publicity opportunity...perhaps they might not be so hesitant in future as there are other opportunities coming up.

I'll upload the video as soon as ITV send me it.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

    Toby
